Today I was reading from a collection of very inspiring quotations, with an intention of just a cursory look because of a sense of boredom from ego-oriented imaginings about a certain individual, and feeling out of balance accordingly. Who knew I would find a quotation that would alter the content of my mind through having the miracle of changing my perception from fear to love. I had paused in my reading at a passage from the collection, and read it several times. As I did so, I felt a strong and energetic positive energy that seemed to be totally missing in the interval of time just a moment before. It was this gift of words that I wish to share with you now: Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true. ~Robert Brault.
This experience also brought to my mind a memory long gone by, of attending a workshop at the Foundation for A Course in Miracles in Temecula, CA. The workshop, conducted by the late Kenneth Wapnick, was called as I remember The Kindness of Healing. The words in the above title of this blog, at least in part, state the bottom line of what he was teaching that day through ACIM.
My conclusion for today is one of deep peace. It certainly did not begin that way, but it most assuredly is the way it is ending as I write this. In this case, restoration of peace was only possible for me through the Holy Spirit speaking to me through a collection of quotations I did not even know existed before. I urge all of you to let this short story change your mind, if necessary, as it did for me.
I close by a quote from ACIM which states it another way: Whenever you are with a brother, you are learning what you are because you are teaching what you are. He will respond either with pain or joy, depending on which teacher you are following. He will be imprisoned or released according to your decision, and so will you. Never forget your responsibility to him, because it is your responsibility to yourself.
